Murray Rountree Regatta Results
There was no ‘Club Sailing’ on 22,23 July as such. The reason being, we staged the 2017 Murray Rountree Regatta at Whitby Lake, Porirua. Despite the weather, we entertained 9 skippers from as far away as Auckland and Tauranga, with the remaining 5 skippers being from our own club.
Saturday was NOT a desirable day by any means. Wet and cold with a ‘B’ rig wind from the south.
The Race Officer for the event, was one of our clubs most esteemed members, Ian Hull-Brown.
The Skippers Briefing was held promptly at 9.30 AM on Saturday with the racing started at 10.00 AM
It didn’t take long for the 4 most predominant skippers Ian Vickers, Karl Stachel, Carl Smith and Richard McNeilly to show their style.
Sunday’s weather was an exact opposite to Saturday, sunny, warm with very little wind. This lack of wind was a real test for some of the skippers but the predominant skippers really shone with their ability to overcome this problem.
Overall a great weekend was had by all.
