All Class Winter Handicaps Day 1

On Sunday August 20 day 1 of the All Class Handicap Winter Series was held despite the weather at Aotea Lagoon. 4 IOM’s arrived to be greeted with a definite ‘A’ type southerly, the only thing wrong was the gusts, which were long and hard — a good ‘C’ rig. we decided on the ‘B’ rig and proceeded to brave it out.  Both Darrell and Ed had previous experience in these type of conditions, but Peter had not. Surprisingly, he handled the conditions very well. Rod, with the 4th boat did not race, as he had some electrical problems.
