Day 2 Summer Series IOM Fleet Racing Results
Sunday March 18 we staged the re-scheduled Day 2 of the Summer Series IOM Fleet Racing. The event was held at the Seaview Marina with a very summery day in attendance. On arrival the breeze was a light southerly and rather ‘fresh,’ by race start time it had increased in intensity, to the degree that a few of the skippers decided that a ‘B’ rig would be in order. By the fourth race the breeze had decreased to the point that the ‘A’ rig was necessary, and time was allowed for a change over.
Ed is apparently still having problems with his winch, and pulled out in the first race. Russell also pulled out in the third race with battery problems. As if that wasn’t enough, Darrell missed the first race because of a sheeting problem, as did John in the fourth race. Both where repairable.
As a result of the Boat Show held the previous weekend, we had several spectators during the racing, who wished to know more about the Hobby and, of course wanted some ‘hands on’ experience, so, some of the races towards the end of the scheduled race were in fact handled by the ‘possibly new members’?? Great to see Mark and Bruce starting to make waves’.
