Summer Series All Class H/C Day 3

Sunday April 8 we staged Day 3 of the Summer Series All Class Handicap, and it was a real disappointment. It started out with 5 skippers, but very rapidly decreased to 3–Russell has got his replacement winch—and apparently it was working OK at home but decided to quit during rigging up. Darrell did the unthinkable,  got to the stage of checking everything before launching and realized he had left his transmitter at home,  (old age is catching up with him?????) So that left Ed, Rod and  Bruce to battle it out.
We were to sail at Aotea Lagoon but the Council had removed the Jetty we use for launching, so we decided to adjourn to Whitby Lake. It looks as if Aotea is ‘out’ as far as sailing venues is concerned.
Conditions were sunny with gusty northerlies. The gusts were strong enough enough to warrant a ‘B’ rig. There was nothing between the boats and Bruce proved again the the V5 can, and will, keep pace with the V8/V9.
The event was won by Ed —-well done Ed, with Bruce coming in second and Rod third by 1 point.
The event was administered by John McPherson
